Maria Monty - Week 1

You can read here about Maria's final year and graduation at uni.

Maria Monty, Mercutio Monty-Ottomas's half-Alien daughter, has just graduated Summa Cum Laude in Political Science. Now she has moved back to New Maximiliania and wants to work on her lifetime want of being Captain Hero. She is a Popularity Sim.

Maria grew up with her human father in the Ottomas house. Now she has her own small place and is looking forward to furnishing it.

The cheap furniture that came with the house will go. She has saved most of her student grants and has more than 8,000 Simoleons left after purchasing the house.

But of course, a job is essential - not only for her lifetime want, but also to pay the bills. On this Monday, no positions in Law Enforcement are available.

Marcus Baldwin, Jill Smith and one of the former Capp boys, now Newson (sorry - can't remember his first name right now, how embarrassing! Is it Clover?) are here to welcome Maria to the neighbourhood.

She makes lunch meat sandwiches - with only one cooking point, that's all she can offer.

Callum Capp is her college sweetheart, and she invites him over, not knowing that he has actually had something going on with Jill Smith (who aspires to have 20 loves) at some stage.
Guy Zimmermann (far left) has come along with Callum.

Later, Odell Ottomas (who Maria grew up with) asks her to join him and several others for an outing at Baliwood Star Lanes.

Maria's Dad Mercutio (far left) and her uncle, Romeo Monty, are part of the group. Odell, who organised the outing, is the one in the striped shirt; the blonde lady is Carolina Capp.

Maria has fun bowling...

...and enjoys herself even more when Callum (who is not part of Odell's group but has made his way over to the community lot on his own accord) serenades her. Nice to see Camryn Lee, the lady in the green jumper and new resident of New Maximiliania, is also here.

Oh no! I'm afraid there will be more scenes like this throughout the week, not just on this Tuesday morning. Because of Jill Smith feeling cheated by Callum's relationship with Maria, she has thrown the dustbin over, and the trash was on the ground all night, attracting bugs.

And indeed, Jill is seen sneaking towards the house on Wednesday morning, most likely intending to nick Maria's newspaper.

But Maria has spotted her and goes outside to greet her, suggesting they talk.
To her surprise, Jill accepts, and the two women chat for a while. "I felt deadly embarrassed when I saw Callum and you together," Jill confesses. Maria assures her she had no idea there had anything been going on, and accepts Jill's explanation that she originally approached Callum only because of her lifetime want. "A Sim's gotta do what a Sim's gotta do," the women agree.

They are far from being friends, but Jill even stays for lunch, and can't help thinking "This Maria is not half bad."

Then, a good friend pays a visit on her own accord - Lisa Gieke went to uni with Maria.

Jill has long gone home, and the two ladies spend the balmy evening fishing at the pond behind Maria's house.

On Friday, Maria finally lands a job in her coveted career. She leaves as Detective...

...and returns as Lieutenant.

The career rewards object is put to good use; she now needs more cleaning and logic skill.

Maria has the weekend off and uses Saturday to catch up with some yardwork as well as talking to her friends on the phone.

At nighttime, she can be found at her recently bought telescope - she needs logic for her career but is also personally interested in learning more about the world her Alien father comes from.

Sunday, and isn't sleeping in wonderful?

The day turns out to be less wonderful when Maria does some more yardwork raking leaves and setting not only the pile of leaves on fire, but also herself - at first, she isn't even aware of the strange smell coming from own burning clothes, as she is so immersed in her science game.

But soon, Maria's life is over - 23 days before she would have reached Elderhood.

Poor Mercutio, losing a child just as she moved back into town after uni; poor Maria's friends, and poor Callum, who loved her.
This was an unexpected end of the week; I liked Maria and was looking forward to following the developments in her professional and personal life. Next, I will be playing her uncle Romeo.

    1. It was sad - I would have really liked to see more of her. Also, I am not sure at this point how her death will affect Callum.
