About New Maximiliania

What is New Maximiliania? It is my special neighbourhood (started in 2008) in the game "The Sims 2", where each and every Maxis-made family, single Sim or student has found a home, no matter whether they were originally placed in Pleasantview, Strangetown, Veronaville, Belladonna Cove, Bluewater Village, etc., and no matter with what expansion pack they were added to our games.
The houses and community lots in this neighbourhood are all the Maxis-made originals, too.

New Maximiliania (or New Max, as it is affectionately called by its inhabitants) is played entirely without CC and no hacks, and the only cheats I use are the ones to put furniture diagonally or place two pictures on the same bit of wall etc.

Each household is played for one Sim-week in alphabetical order of their surnames.
All Maxis-made Sims get a fair chance at reaching their lifetime want. Upon their age-transition from child to teenager, I decide each Sim's aspiration by lot. If they have a 3-bolt-attraction for another Sim, I try to get the couple together; I usually let them get married only if one of them has that want, and children will only come if they are key to fulfilling a lifetime want - or a male Sim is abducted by Aliens.

If you want to create your own Maxis-families neighbourhood, please do NOT just go and move the families into the family bin and then place them in their new surroundings. That way, you are going to destroy the whole neighbourhood after some time, because a large number of double character files is going to be created.
Instead, please check out http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Moving_Sims for detailed instructions of what to do.
To my knowledge, you can also download a clean and ready-to-play Maxis-families neighbourhood on MTS2.

You are very welcome to read what those Maxis-Sims we all know so well are up to in my game, and I'll be happy to read your comments and answer your questions, should you have any :-)

  1. I have started my own Megahood and am always excited to run across blogs for them. Do you happen to have the information from your first 2 weeks for all the families, or only from 3 on? I would love to see how they all started. :)

    1. Hello clyrose, thank you for stopping by!
Sadly, most of the info from the first two rounds was lost when the Sims2 story exchange on the offical website did not work for months (and now it has closed down for good, which is why I first decided to transfer my stories to this blog).
But I do have the in-game pics from that time for most of the families, and these are the ones that I post in the "Family Albums". Therefore, you can see how they started for most of the families when you go to post by the headline "[family name] Family Album".
I'm going to check out your blog now!

    2. Oh very cool, I will certainly check out the family albums. I'm sorry to hear about you losing those posts. Some warning would have been really nice before they shut it all down forever taking with it all the work gamers had put into it.

  4. I remember there was a post where Ariel Capp went on a date with Kent Capp, you said that they aren't related because of when you cleaned them up using simpe, does that the majority of the Capps aren't related?

    1. Actually, I can not remember that date at all - Kent lived so long ago!
Cleaning the Sims' memories means to wipe out from their relationship panels any Sim who does not live in the same household. So, if a member of the Capp clan lives in a different household, they are not related anymore.

    2. It can be a bit annoying if you, like me, pretend that they are still relatives but they get romantic wishes about each other. Apart from that, I don't really mind.

  5. do you ever give sims secondary aspirations? I know Pauline aspir has one.

    1. Most of the time, I don't remember about the secondary aspiration, but some Sims have one.

  6. i know this is a random question but how many gay/lesbian/bisexual sims have been in new Maximiliana?

    1. Very few; they never seem to fall in love autonomously with a Sim of the same gender, and I usually only influence a Sim to fall in love with another when it suits their LTWs, for instance when two have the same LTW to marry off six children, I try to bring them together.
The Ramirez girl did have a romantic interest (not sure whether she still does) with a female Sim, and in the course of Romance Sims wanting to have 20 lovers, there were some same-sex relationships.

Whether you play The Sims 2 yourself or not, it would be great hearing from you. As I will reply to comments regularly, please remember to come back if you have asked a question.
