Jimmy Phoenix: Week 6

The last playable Sim at this apartment house is...

...Jimmy Phoenix. He is now 60 and qualifies for a room at the Senior Residence, but he has decided to remain here with his dog Timmy until Timmy is no more. The dog is 31, so it should be a question of days rather than years before Jimmy moves out of the apartment.
He still works as a General ever since he had his last promotion in the military career 7 days before turning into an Elder.
Being on Permanent Platinum means I only control him enough to make sure Timmy's needs are met and the bills paid.

Tuesday starts similar to most days with Jimmy taking care of Timmy, either cleaning and filling his bowl, giving the pet bed a good scrub or the dog himself a bath.

Little does he know that it was to be the last time he was going to take care of Timmy. When Jimmy returns from work that day, he learns that his dear old canine companion died peacefully. (I must admit I did not even realise it until Jimmy came home and I noticed Timmy's icon was gone - while the general was out for work, I had the game on fast-fast forward and was reading a magazine!)

Jimmy is going to spend his remaining years at the Senior Residence. You know he will not be alone here.

When he arrives very early on a Sunday morning, the first other resident to meet him is Christian Love, the former townie who has moved to New Max for good after it was discovered that he had a playable "relative" in Sarah Love.
Christian is the youngest current resident here at 54, and the only one who is not on PP. I doubt he will make his LTW of having woohoo with 20 different Sims come true.

Next, Jimmy meets Ripp Grunt and Sarah Love. Ripp is the oldest here; he is 71. Sarah is 60, only a year younger than Jimmy himself.
Of course the newcomer is immediately introduced to everyone's favourite game here. Look at Ripp's face!

Last but not least, Jimmy also meets Blacky, the wombrat.

As Christian is the only Sim I really direct here, all the gardening falls on him.

The others chip in with the house work every now and then. I wonder whether Sarah looks so unhappy because of the dirty dishes she is carrying from the table to the dish washer? I didn't tell her to do it, so she has no reason to complain!

With 8 bedrooms available for 4 residents, everybody here chooses where they want to sleep, and it is not the same bed every time. Although Jimmy was very tired after work, he did not go to the nearest bed, but picked a single one at the other end of the row of rooms. He has been used to sleeping alone all his life, so maybe that is why he opted for a single room.
On Monday morning, he only gets up when the helicopter is here to fly him to work.

He comes home with the wish to invite someone over. Shaun Singles (the son of Erin Singles and Nervous Subject) is a good friend of his, and joins Jimmy for a chat and a movie in the common room. Jimmy expresses his hope to become best friends with the other residents here soon.

He spends good part of the night looking at the portraits in the Residence's gallery, all former residents here or their closest relations.

Before daybreak on Wednesday morning, Christian asks Jimmy and Ripp along for a hike. He sees this as a good way for Jimmy to get to know the others. Unfortunately, Jimmy has to work that day and nearly misses his helicopter, because he is very tired after the hike and goes to sleep straight away.

Ripp is tired, too. Sarah always seeks his company, asleep or awake.

Jimmy had a good rest after his return from work, and the four meet at the poker table.

Zoe Zimmerman, Sarah's best friend, comes visiting on her own accord.

Her partner, Guy Wrightley, has returned from work with Jimmy. Ripp better not start flirting with Zoe - he rolls the wish, but I do not direct Ripp, so I don't think he'll do that on his own initiative.

It is Thursday morning and the last day we're spending here for now - Jimmy has already had Monday and Tuesday at his old apartment before moving here, starting on a Sunday, which adds up to 7 days for him.
The day begins with Christian Love cleaning the cooker.

For the second time this week, the repair service is called in. The elderly residents would certainly have enough time (and skill) to handle all repairs themselves, but they have more money than what they will ever be able to spend, and giving employment to the repair service is certainly good for New Maximiliania's economy.

Sarah Love is not directed by me except for a daily phonecall to a friend and playing with Blacky the wombrat. Today, she prefers almost starving to death before leaving the poker table. A severe case of gambling addiction! (She runs to the fridge and starts stuffing her face soon afterwards.)

Jimmy's week ends talking to Ripp. He has showed the wish to become best friends with his fellow resident. Ripp remarks on Jimmy's change of clothes - "Those dungarees are so practical, aren't they," he smiles. Jimmy agrees; they are ideal for the autumn weather, too.

Well, that was an alright week, I suppose. Nothing dramatic, no death, and sadly, no new townies or other non-resident Sims with playable surnames in the contact lists of any of the four residents here. With many of the original playables having become Senior Sims now, I am sure we'll be back soon for a newcomer - I just don't know yet who it is going to be.

Two things I forgot to do during Jimmy's week: 1. I did not make Jimmy move Timmy's urn or tombstone to the cemetery (where I have a pet section), and 2. I did not send him or the group to a community lot.

  1. Well, maybe next time you're there they can all take a trip to the cemetary so Jimmy can say fairwell to his last best friend. What about Ophelia? Arent they a thing?

    1. There is hardly a man in New Max Ophelia has NOT dated at some stage or other :-)
Jimmy is not interested in any lady, and never has been. Some people are just like that, aren't they!

  2. It's nice that Jimmy has company in his later years.
Do you have any plans for Christian or is he going to live his life out here at the Senior Residence?

    1. Jimmy fits in so well, as if he had always been there. Of course he is out for work most days, but he loves having company when he wants it, and he almost always can find someone to chat to at the poker table :-)
Christian is very valuable to the Senior Residence, being the only controlled Sim there at the moment. He has never had a proper address in New Max and will remain where he is now, with his relative Sarah.

Whether you play The Sims 2 yourself or not, it would be great hearing from you. As I will reply to comments regularly, please remember to come back if you have asked a question.
