The Cho 'Brothers' - Week 1

Click here for their Senior Year at uni.

Looks familiar, doesn't it? But it is not the Swains' house, but a duplicate from the lots & houses bin that I have placed in New Maximiliania's Downtown when I reorganised the neighbourhood some time ago.
Who has moved in here?
It is the first Sim on my alphabetical list who carries the surname Cho: Calvin, a former NPC student. Here he his, being welcomed to his rented semi-detached house.
He is a Family Sim and has the understandable wish of reaching his Golden Anniversary. Last round, he has graduated Summa Cum Laude in Philosophy, and during his time at uni, developed a romantic attachment to Giselle Goth. Will she be the one to celebrate the Golden Anniversary with him eventually?
Before deciding on that - or anything else, such as buying furniture for the mostly empty house -, Calvin asks his "brother" Shane Cho to move in. Shane used to be another NPC student, and the two are not really related, but I treat them as such, seeing as they have the same surname.

Shane's aspiration is Fortune and he dreams of becoming a Business Tycoon.
Giselle Goth invites the brothers to an outing, and they meet her at Sue's Secret Kitchen. Part of the group are also Stephen Riley, seen here talking to Giselle...
...Christopher Callum, Perseida Powers and Meike Riley.
Shane is happy to see Meike! Maybe you remember that these two have a son, Alan, but have never lived together.
Calvin is hungry and decides to not only cook for himself and the group, but to enter his Comfort Soup for a food contest. Apart from the head chef here at Sue's Secret Kitchen, Meike Riley and Calendula Capp also participate. Is the food judge going to award Meike with a prize?
No - the thought bubble above his head probably meant that he was wondering why someone would enter hamburgers when the other entries were such posh dishes as Lobster Thermidor and Baked Alaska. The head chef wins the contest. "Unfair!" Meike exclaims. Calvin simply walks away and eats a bowl of his soup.
After that, he and Shane bid the others good-bye and go home to sleep.
Tuesday begins with a breakfast of burnt omelette, courtesy of Shane.
Later, the landlord is asked to repair the clogged toilet and deal with the roaches that have appeared after someone (Charlie Cho, I think - I can't remember why he is an enemy of his "cousins") threw the dustbin over.

Calvin asks the matchmaker for a blind date and is lucky when his date turns out to be Kana Philips, a head chef and three-bolt-match for him. The only other three-bolt-lady in his relationship panel is Wilma Riley (nee Williamson), happily married to Stephen Riley.

Shane rolls at first many wants around Meike Riley, but then he starts on a spree of Buy Me-wishes, and I fulfill them all.
I send Calvin to the telescope early on Wednesday morning, of course with the intention of giving him the chance for an alien abduction and thus having a baby, something he as a Family Sim keeps wishing for again and again.
But of course I did not expect that he'd be "successful" right away! When he is delivered back in front of his house, Shane and the paper girl greet him. The paper girl even giggles, while Shane expresses worry about his "brother's" well-being.
Poor Calvin - he may want a baby alright, but the abduction was a bad experience for him, and he keeps interrupting what he's doing and breaks into tears. Maybe it is also a hormonal thing, this being so emotional, as of course he has brought a little souvenir back in his belly from his visit aboard the alien space ship.
The day before, I did not take a picture during the blind date with Kana Phillips, but here she is - and clearly not only smitten with Calvin, but also with Sheldon Hanby, the mail carrier who has just been here.
As Calvin's LTW is to reach his Golden Anniversary and Kana is the only eligible three-bolt-lady in his relationship panel, I plan to make her the next Mrs. Cho, even though she is not a resident New Maximilianian. Also, Calvin will want help raising his as yet unborn child.

Shane keeps rolling wishes to serve meals, and just like he burnt yesterday's breakfast omelettes, he also burns today's hamburgers. This is particularly embarrassing when one of those sharing the meal is a head chef! But Calvin keeps talking about how he wishes to become best friends with Kana just like he already his best friends with his "brother", and nobody mentions the burnt food.

Wednesday's events (and his pregnancy) have left Calvin so exhausted that he went to bed really early. Therefore, it is no surprise that he wakes up equally early on Thursday morning. But it IS a surprise that he gets abducted while stargazing (on his own initiative) once again!!

Today, he becomes aware of the new life in his belly for the first time. He does not look unhappy, even though the abductions are bad memories.

Kana is invited over again, and the two are close to falling in love true and proper.

Meike Riley comes visiting on her own accord; she wants to see Shane and spends the evening with him. But by 9:00 pm, the brothers are both tired and in bed.

Strangely enough, I have not one picture for Friday; the day simply was not eventful. As far as I remember, Calvin took motly care of his fast-dropping physical needs, and Shane was busy otherwise.
But Friday - oh, Friday! There were so many things happening!
First of all, Calvin asks his three-bolt-lady Kana Phillips to move in, and here she is, adding exactly 1 Simoleon to the joint household account. There is nothing in her inventory, she knows only the Cho brothers and one townie, and her skill profile boast 10 points for cooking and nothing else. But her LTW is the same as Calvin's; this match was clearly meant to be! (Calvin never rolled wants around Giselle Goth, who he was briefly romantically involved with at uni.)

Over a breakfast of excellent omelettes (prepared by Kana), Calvin hands her a small velvet-covered box... "Oh Calvin - a diamond ring! The answer is YES!!!" Calvin couldn't be happier.

And then, at 12 minutes past 12, his twins are born! The half-alien boys are named Chimmy and Chan. Now the family is complete!

Kana is happy - she is a Family Sim and loves children, but she does not necessarily need to have any of her own.

She becomes a doting Mum for them the moment the babies need their first bottle.

Like for many young parents, Sunday starts way too early when one of the babies cries from wanting a fresh nappy.

While Kana takes care of one, Calvin looks after the other - so practical when there are twins and neither of the parents have a job!

I love this man so much, Kana thinks as she watches Calvin writing in his diary.

Then, a Nanny is empoyed for the day. You can guess why, can't you?

Calvin invites his group of friends (plus "cousin" Charlie Cho) to St. Simius. Upon arrival, I realise I have forgotten to include Kana in the group - so stupid! She is the most important person in the group apart from Calvin himself! I have him call a taxi, and they drive back to the semi.

There, a wedding arch, balloons and chairs are quickly set up in the otherwise empty garage.

The landlord (far right, back row) considers himself invited - it means Giselle Goth does not have a seat.

But never mind, the ceremony does not take long, and soon everybody enthusiastically applauds the newlyweds.

The Nanny just happened to have a pretty dress ready, too, and does not look so out of place as the guests eat the wedding cake and she feeds one of the babies.

A couple of hours later, Kana prepares pork chops (without me asking her to) and accidentally sets the stove on fire. Good job there is a fire alarm installed, and nobody comes to harm - there are just some very smelly Sims around after the fire, badly needing showers.

Before everybody heads home, I witness this scene in Calvin and Kana's bedroom: Two of the guests - of course not under my control! - autonomously fall in love! Christopher Capp and Giselle Goth are now an item.

This was a week that turned out very different from what I thought. I expected a bit of a boring wekk with two adult Sims in a rented semi, but instead it was action packed after the first day or two.

  1. Is it just me who gets confused over shane and calvin? i don't know why i just do i suppose.i love the fact another townie has been allowed to stay in town again;wonder if she'll be as popular as carla reamon?I wasn't expecting anymore births yet;maybe this round will be a rare increase of births?Giselle and Christopher certainly are an unexpected couple as i thought giselle would end up with one of the ottomas boys. The arrival of Chimmy and Chan makes the total number of alien babies born in the hood 29!

    1. As Shane and Calvin look so different, I don't get confused with them. Maybe I have managed to mix up their names in some instances here in this post to add to your confusion; if you notice such errors, please let me know and I shall go and correct them.
Yes, Giselle was definitely thinking of getting involved with one of the Ottomas boys when she was still at uni, they shared the same LTW. But the thing with Christopher happened without me doing anything, and I shall see what Giselle says when I'll play her house.
      29 half-Aliens, that is a lot!

  2. What a great round, Twin alien babies for Calvin! To get abducted twice is rare too isn't it?
I've done that before at St.Simius, but you could have invited Kana to the lot once you were already there, assuming a) she has a phone and b) she wasn't at work! :)

Glad they got hitched anyway, she's a great Mum so far, :)

    1. I did try to have Calvin ring Kana from St. Simius, and there is a phone on the lot (as you know, as you have built it), but it was unclickable - I don't know why.
She does not work so that would not have stopped her.

    2. Ah, I think you have to call on a cellphone from St.Simius, not sure why. :)

    3. Good to know, thank you! Not many of my Sims have mobiles, so I might start sending them to the shops more often.

  3. I think once they get abducted they are more likely to get abducted again. I could be wrong or if you use the dancing orb thingy you can also get abducted with that if you have already been abducted.

    1. I knew about the dance orb making abductions possible, but I don't think it has ever happened in my game.
A few Sims have been abducted twice, but never in such a short space of time.
