Jared Starchild: Week 7

Week 6 with Jared is here.

Next to where Perseida Powers now lives - the house used to be General Grunt's place originally - is another, much smaller place. It is even smaller than it looks, because it only has a ground floor, although it looks as if there is an attic floor, too.

Jared Starchild moved here last round. When I open the lot and check on him, I find that his lifetime want has changed again - he now wants to marry off six children! When I started to play him as one of the original Maxis-made playable students, he wanted to raise 20 puppies and kittens. When he already had raised 16, he suddenly wanted to become Chief of Staff, but was too old to achieve that. And now this!
With all the puppy raising, Jared has never worked, but he has always been careful in spending the money saved from his student grants. He has 3,666 Simoleons on this Sunday morning. A few hours later, an inheritance from a late friend gets his bank account up to 4,586 Simoleons.

Strangely, Jared has no friends and knows only six other Sims. Something went wrong here, that's for sure!

In spite of not having any human friends, Jared is not lonely. He still has two of his dogs from his puppy-raising days living with him. Here is Maxx.

And here is Tessa.

While Jared is getting ready for the day, his dogs have a visitor - the skunk. It runs up and down the lot, but Maxx is completely unfazed and keeps chewing his bone. Tessa snores peacefully in the dog house.

Nery Turner, an townie, walks by and is greeted by Jared. Greeting a townie? Yes, his surname is the same as one of my aunt and uncle's in Yorkshire, and therefore, Jared will try to befriend him.

Speaking of friends, just as he has invited two of his few human acquaintances - Ramon and Tessa Ramirez - Vyn Scott, Beau Broke and Castanea Landgraab appear and are announced as the welcome committee, as if Jared had only just moved in. He can't believe his luck and is happy for the chance to meet more Sims.

He serves grilled cheese and enjoys the lively meal before it is time for everybody to go home and for Jared to go to bed.

Monday starts with baths for first Tessa and then Maxx, before Jared can think of his own needs.

Marcus Balduin walks by, and the two men hit it off immediately - both love grilled cheese!

They are joined an hour or so later by Heather Huffington, and once more Jared does not need to eat his dinner alone.

On Tuesday, Gerlinde Gavigan is the first of Jared's visitors.

He invites Nery Turner over, who brings Beau Broke along. Nothing like a game of kicky bag to make friends, is there!

And guess what's for dinner :-)

The first thing Jared has to do on Wednesday morning is unclog and clean the toilet - no unnecessary spending on the repair service.

Over his daily crossword, he ponders whether he should ring the adoption agency - after all, he wants to marry off six children. But it won't be possible; even if Jared adopted six kids, he would not be around long enough to see any of them married. Plus he has no money for a house big enough, beds and other things for such a large family.

Never mind, he can still befriend other Sims so he won't feel lonely. Today, Ned Newson walks by.

Nery Turner is already here; the two men are now friends. "It's always great to meet someone new, isn't it," Ned says over - you guessed it - grilled cheese. Jared couldn't agree more.

It is Thursday, and Jared needs to do something about his dwindling food supplies. Taxi rides are for free in New Maximiliania, plus he has not yet been to a community lot this week, and so I send him to "Here or There Groceries".

He buys what he needs and then greets all New Max residents on the lot, among them Fenya Hart and Camryn Lee.

Before he leaves, he takes advantage of the free BBQ facilities at the side of the shop and makes a batch of hot dogs, to be enjoyed by himself and whoever wishes to join him.

Back home, Nery Turner is his guest again. "Here's to almost best friends," Jared smiles.

When Jared begins Friday morning with his regular dog baths, he has no idea how his life is going to change today.

While he is still mopping up the puddles in the bathroom, a gypsie lady sneaks up and leaves a magic lamp in front of his house.

Jared rubs the lamp, and the genie duly appears. What to wish for is easy - Jared needs money, and wants a long life. Both wishes are instantly granted, and Jared is now back to 64 years old.

The first bag of money plops down minutes later, witnessed by Nery Turner, Helena Stacks and Maxx.

More money falls from the sky, and Jared happily starts on some home improvement. First and foremost, he thinks of his dogs, and buys the most expensive food bowl for them (which is also the most nutritious) and more comfortable pet beds.

Next is his own bedroom. The cheap bed, offering little comfort, is replaced by a much better model.

The dining chairs and table in the open plan kitchen are also replaced, and he even invests in curtains.

Here is Tessa in her brand new, comfortable pet bed. The dogs' room now also has a pair of curtains - not that they are bothered about such things, but Jared wants to make everything nicer. The bathroom, too, is improved with a better toilet and bathtub.

By Saturday morning - the last day at this household, as the week here begins on a Sunday - Jared has bought and set up a book case (he wished for one earlier this week but was too cautious to spend money unnecessarily), a comfy settee and a reading lamp.

His best friend Nery Turner moves in, becoming a fully fledged New Maximilianian - adding a new surname to the list.
Nery is a Romance Sim who wants to be Professional Party Guest. He is currently working as a Birthday Party Mascot, a job he will quit immediately. Adding 3,000 Simoleons to the household account, I put objects worth that amount in his inventory, as I have not yet decided whether to let him stay here with Jared or look for his own place.
There are two bottles of sparkling wine, a birthday cake and a fish already in his inventory, probably all acquired during visits on community lots.

And who should be the first person to walk by after Nery's move-in? Zack Turner, a distant relative! Obviously, Zack is not too keen on conversation with Nery. The two do not yet know each other, but after a while, they manage to have a decent conversation with each other, and I shall work on them becoming friends.

Before that can happen, though, Nery meets and greets another neighbour: Jill Smith. Even in the pouring rain, he can not help but admire her beauty - she is a 3-bold-lady for him!

And it looks like the feeling is mutual.

This is where the week here ends. Will Jared make more friends and help newcomers? Will his lifetime want change once more?

Is Nery going to stay here, or find his own place? What about his career, and his budding relationship with Jill?

  1. Poor Jared losing his LTW yet again when he was so close to completing it! There must be a hidden box in New Max with all those lost LTW’s, friends and of course The Roth family.

Nice that Nery has moved in and already met a same-named acquaintance. It will be fun to see if things progress between he and Jill as well.

    1. I would very much like to find that hidden box! The Roth family is now years behind everyone else - I have not played them for so long.

Nery and Jill seem to be a good match, but Jill is still working on her list of loves.

Whether you play The Sims 2 yourself or not, it would be great hearing from you. As I will reply to comments regularly, please remember to come back if you have asked a question.
