Gavigan Twins: Freshman Year

Yes, back again at Pinenut Plaza Dorms! This time, it is to see Gary (right) and Gavin (left) Gavigan through their first year at uni.
The other three - Cameron and Cataldo Capp as well as Brittany Love - are still here. Brittany is now a Sophomore, while the Capp boys are in their Senior year.

Year ago, I placed the cosmetic surgery device in this dorm for a purpose - every Sim in my neighbourhood has the right to have a nose. Gavin is on his way to achieving just that.

He uses the device...

...and ends up with smaller eyes and a proper nose, obviously much to his liking.

I did not give him an "all-new" face, but opted for just changing those features of his face that made him look a bit scary; the huge eyes and the non-existing nose. That way, he still keeps his individual look and remains pretty much the Gavin we know.

One of the NPC students who now occoupy the empty rooms seems to like what she sees.

Gavin's twin brother Gary is happy about his brother's new nose and eyes, too!

The brothers soon find their footing at the dorm. The cheerleader introduces them to the school cheer.
Half way through the semester, Gary decides he wants to major in Literature. Gavin remains undecided.

On her own accord, Brittany Love makes a move on Gary. This is all the more surprising because a) it is autumn, not spring, and b) they have a crossed-out bolt for each other. Will anything become of this first tender approach?

Gavin happily joins the hula - the surest way to become part of the group at the dorm!

But then, desaster strikes. I have not had this happening in a long time in my game, but when I ask one of the Capps to rake the leaves and burn the piles, more than just the leaves catches fire.

Soon, the entire tree is ablaze, as well as the sculpture next to it. Everyone comes running out, and the inevitable happens: Brittany Love loses her life in the flames. I am sorry to see her go, as I liked her and would have gladly added her to the Loves already living in New Max.

Only when snow begins to fall, the flames die. Gary and Gavin have returned from their final exam in time to witness the drama. And while Gavin has indeed made it to the Dean's List with an A+, his brother has not fared quite as well; his result of a C+ surprises me somewhat, since he wasn't doing so bad with his term paper and going to classes.

The Gavigan twins' second semester starts with a badly needed shower.

The usual round of cafeteria meals, going to classes and working on their Term Papers begins.

Gavin finally decides on Drama as his major; certainly a good choice for a future Rock God.

The Capp boys have their final exams. By the way, despite of them looking so alike, they are not brothers, not even cousins.
Cameron, seen here returning to the dorm with a Magna Cum Laude in Drama, is the son of the late Hermia Capp and her husband Tank, formerly Grunt.

Cataldo, who has just graduated Summa Cum Laude in Physics, is one of Ariel Capp's sons with her husband Isaiah, formerly Gavigan.
That makes him a cousin of the Gavigans - their mother Gerlinde Gavigan is one of Isaiah's sisters.

Cameron has graduated a few hours before Cataldo, and so he is the first to throw a graduation party. Sadly, only two guests can be invited, and his parents being long gone anyway, he chooses his older brothers Christopher and Carl.

He can still be the pesky little brother if he wants to!

Soon, it is time to board the taxi that takes him back to New Max where at some stage we will catch up with him.

The remaining three playable students finally manage to visit a community lot. The taxi pulls up in front of the rather impressive looking Campus Lounge.

It is so colourful inside that it is hard to spot Gary on the settee!

Meanwhile, Gavin and Cataldo buy espressos in a different part of the building.

The bar is just as colourful as the rest of that room.

I didn't expect the Unsavoury Charlatan to turn up here on campus!

Back at the dorm, the next day it is time for Cataldo's graduation party. "Let's paaaartayyy!!!" he shouts.

But it ends up a rather tame event with only his parents for guests. Ariel is happy to see her oldest  graduate.

And Isaiah is a very proud father today!

Now it's only Gary and Gavin left as playables here. Should I move them to a smaller dorm, or a rented house? I have not decided yet. For now, they are glad to have survived their Freshman Year!
